A photo of Workshops and Brands of Paint by Canadian artist Theresa Eisenbarth

Dear Friends,
March 6, 2017

It’s been awhile since my last posting.

How time and projects fly by….I’ve been busy preparing taxes, planning for my year, teaching and moving art supplies back to my permanent studio location.

Before Christmas, I was asked if I would consider selling some private art lessons for a gift. I thought about it for a day or two, considered what I was to charge and emailed back “yes”.

Teaching one-to-one has been an interesting new adventure. I decided that for it to be special, it had to be one-to-one instruction as opposed to two or three people. This way we only have two schedules to work out, instead of many. Realistically, its also the fastest way to get someone working on an art-piece, using their own art materials and building some confidence in a very short time.

I’ve found the prep work I’ve done for my monthly classes and workshops has definitely helped. I can simply go to the “big” filing cabinet and pull out some basic sheets on supplies, art basics and a project to start the student painting. Here in the photo, we have started with setting out a work space, talking about colors, brands and types of paint. Starting with the basics will allow me to build a foundation of knowledge and start with the infamous pears: great chunky objects to practice drawing, adjusting value and light.

So, I’ll continue to teach the one-to-one lessons in the future. If you know of anyone who may be interested, please have them contact me via email on the website with a phone number. Space is limited.

I’m also thinking of adding a Thursday morning drop-in whereby you’ll have a designated art-space for two hours and be able to work on your individual art project with limited instruction! I’ll keep you posted on this idea in the near future.
