Looking Across South Saskatchewan
We all know there is constant change in a city. This vista is a perfect example. When the flooding happened in 2013 and many homes on the Flats were ruined, the city decided to build a berm to hold back the floodwaters as a preventative measure. While growing up, you often heard stories about the 100-year flood, but reality today is that it comes back every 10 years. Today the natural landscape of this vista has been altered with an entire section of cottonwood trees taken out and replaced with river rock. I know the berm was a necessity, but I miss the old 100-year-old trees that lined the river causeway.
