I love how art can change a room.

The color yellow is one of my favorite colors. (if you know me, you’ll also know I love the color red ) but saying that, the color yellow has always been a color of hope and inspiration. Its one paint tubes I gravitate to over and over again for uplifting my spirits.

Van Gogh used a magnitude of yellow in his paintings. It appeared in the sunflowers, the wheat fields at harvest, and to show the power of the sunlight on his subjects.

There is just something magical about the depth yellow and how it effects your soul. In his book and letters to Theo, he wrote:

“Under the blue-yellow sun … … the whole earth is yellow,” and the house “had to be painted yellow outside, white on the inside whitewashed everywhere … Outside sunny yellow, white inside, a lot of sun, finally, I’ll see my pictures in a really bright room; red brick floor.”  Vincent Van Gogh.

Van Gogh attributed yellow color with magical properties to fill a man with a sense of joy and love of life.  According to Emile Bernard, “Yellow was his favorite color, the symbol of light, which he wanted to see not only in paintings but also in our hearts.”

I think yellow is the color of energy…. of the creative heart. Something to explore and to capture,  to hold within and to let shine through art.

Do you have a favorite color to use?
