~ How I name my paintings ~

Interesting topic today. I just had this conversation with my group yesterday.

I have two tactics to naming my paintings. The first method is not very scientific….a name of the artwork pops into my head and I tend to go with that name.

Secondly, I write a name on the certificate (like the one shown), and I end up using that as a “thought” surrounding an idea or the “big story” in the painting.

All ways are good. I don’t generally number the paintings with numerals as I find art collectors are intrigued by the guts of what’s in the name of the painting.

Again, I’m a g big person on words and how they are used, so naming the artwork has to resonate with me.
